Indiana Traditional Arts Center with American Folk Crafts located in Monrovia, Indiana, is Morgan County's premier Arts Center. The 1900c. Arts & Crafts building, tastefully restored, is an attractive venue for the arts. We have a full craft & art gallery with items for sale made by Indiana artisans. Traditional classes in crafts and arts are available at low cost for children and adults. A special weaving and textile section, utilizing vintage looms and spinning wheels along with modern weaving equipment, is available.
Our goal is to teach the traditional arts so they do not die out and to also enrich peoples lives by showing them how to develop skills in those crafts Free lectures are presented to the public as a resource for general education. A small fee is charged for school groups.

We are approximately 24 minutes from Indianapolis and just 2 miles from Interstate 70, exit # 59 When entering Monrovia, turn right at stop sign and go 1.5 blocks. You will see our sign on the right.
Classes are kept small in size for full student participation. The focus is on understanding the history and the craftsmanship of the medium. Enjoying the activity is paramount.
Classes are offered for 1/2 day, full day/s, while others run for several weeks. Classes are offered for children and adults. Home schoolers and family groups find the classes most beneficial.
Classes offered include but are not limited to: Weaving; Knitting; Stenciling; Rug braiding; Rug hooking; Needle Punch Embroidery; Spinning; Crochet; Childrens craft classes; Theorem painting; Writers Workshop; Traditional Bread Making etc etc. We also have a "Weaving Outreach" program designed for challenged children and adults.

Types of items for sale in our Indiana Artisan Gallery include woven clothing, woven items for your home, knitted & crocheted items, woodwork, pottery, felted items, decorations, oil painting, decorative painting, baby and children's items, needlepunch, etc. etc. Items change frequently because they are unique, well made, low priced, and because our artisans are self driven to create.
