We have relocated to the Studio (8505 Beech Grove Rd.) and work BY APPOINTMENT ONLY at this time.  As Founder and Director, I have decided to semi-retire after being in business for 44 years.  I love designing on my weaving looms and will share my skills in weaving, rug hooking, crochet, and braiding by teaching others. Some of my highly trained teachers from the previous location will join in and continue to share their skills in the areas they also love such as: knitting, felting, art therapy, etc. etc.  We will continue teaching children and adults in the arts/crafts.

Our mission is to teach the traditional arts so they do not die out and to also enrich peoples lives by showing them how to develop skills in those crafts. We are a community resource for enrichment in the Traditional Arts and Crafts.

Some of our history at the former location on Main St. Monrovia:
We have had visitors and students from every state in the USA, from Canada, including China. These visitors have come to this little town of Monrovia to visit the Indiana Traditional Arts Center.  We have been the premier art center in Morgan County.

Indiana Traditional Arts Center was founded, and directed by, Kathleen M. Gould Stevens.  Mrs. Stevens, a retired school principal, has been designing and weaving custom textiles for individuals and for the interior design trade for 44 years. Her work is sold under the business KATHLEEN STEVENS HAND-WOVEN DESIGNS, est. 1976. The weavings are available through Kathleen Stevens Hand-Woven Designs Studio by appointment.  Hndwvnds@ccrtc.com

LECTURES: Are presented to the public as a resource for general education. Some of the presentations Mrs. Stevens has given were to the Indiana Department Club (est. 1912 in Indianapolis), Indianapolis Childrens Museum, Central Indiana Artists Inc., Indiana Traditional Arts Center etc. etc.  She has been judge for the Monrovia Art Show during the Festival for a couple of years.
