SEPTEMBER 2010 KATHLEEN'S NOTES
September is here already! Where did the summer go? Well, I'm actually looking forward to autumn with cooler weather, and colorful leaves. And, my birthday is this month. The number is higher than my little grandson can count, and lighting all the candles without causing a fire will be a challenge.
We hope all of you have a wonderful, and safe, Labor Day. Don't forget --- the weekend after Labor Day (Sept. 10, 11, and 12th) is the Monrovia Festival in it's 27th year. We all look forward to seeing the closing parade on Sunday. And we, especially, look forward to seeing you all during that time so stop by at the Indiana Traditional Arts Center, have a cup of coffee, and relax on our lovely front porch.
Knowing how fast the days go, it would be a good idea to get your hand-woven Christmas gift orders in. I seem to need more time -- age?
The cheerful front door red Christmas rugs are always popular and also the handwoven scarves and purses. Right now I'm setting up my looms for beautiful table runners with Autumn colors and also for the Christmas colors. Just let me know what colors you want.
You may see some of my woven work in the Hoosier Artist Gallery, Nashville Indiana. The gallery is located right behind the Brown Co. Art Guild which is on the main street. www.hoosierartist.net
My Kathleen Stevens Hand-Woven Designs Studio may be contacted by using hndwvnds@ccrtc.com We are open by appointment only. Advanced weaving is at this location for students and available for persons interested in ordering custom textiles.
As many know, I offer free weaving for challenged persons and have done so for over 30 years. Kindly contact me so we may discuss how best to approach this positive, no stress, weaving opportunity with your special needs child or older person.
Our Indiana Traditional Arts Center is all about learning. We are not dealers in equipment or materials so we are not trying to push you to buy. Our focus is on learning and promoting the traditional arts.
Sincerely,
Kathleen
