MARCH 2010 KATHLEEN'S NOTES
Can spring be just around the snow cloud? It looks like it is trying to peek around and soon we may see early spring flowers trying to push up through the frozen ground as our temps. are near 50 degrees.
We start a new month and every month we offer new classe with some classes as repeats because they are so popular. Please see our current classes listed.
Other classes will be scheduled for younger children using many different materials. Hands on demos will be scheduled for everyone and some of our own students will be giving lessons. Our classes are popular so if you are considering signing up, we suggest you don't wait too long.
Those who wish to try weaving for the first time just for fun, just email us so we may set a time convenient for all. We offer a "Lets Try Weaving" class for those who have never before tried weaving. We try to encourage people not to buy looms and other equipment until they have tried to weave just to see if they like it or not. I have had many students who first buy a loom because "it was such a bargain" just to find that they didn't fit physically for the size of their loom, or that they just didn't like weaving, or that the loom was not complete. Don't worry if you are such a person because we can help you set up your loom, or teach you how to weave, or help you restore your loom.
After 43 years of weaving, designing, and teaching I'm fairly confident that we can offer great help. For many years I have also given talks to groups about the textile business and particularily about weaving. Just contact us. Our Indiana Traditional Arts Center is all about learning. We are not dealers in equipment or materials so we are not trying to push you to buy. Our focus is on learning and promoting the traditional arts.
